Since the beginning of January, staff at Ballachulish nursery have been developing ways to support learning at home for their families and children. Part of this has included developing weekly grids with suggestions for learning at home. You can view an example of their weekly learning grids below.
As well as the weekly grid, staff are posting a song to learn each week, recording story videos to share as well as carrying out live meet up sessions with the children and their families to keep in touch!
Ballachulish also have a whole school and nursery Google Classroom which is used to support communication and feedback and help everyone feel more connected.
The staff in the setting understand that each family are in unique circumstances and emphasise that the weekly grids are only there as suggestions and families should not to feel pressured to achieve everything each week. They have also emphasised to families, the importance of listening to their own child, trying some of the suggestions and feeding back through SeeSaw and Google Classroom to the staff and their friends.
The engagement from children and families has been high and has helped to ensure that everyone is feeling connected and supported whilst learning at home.
