Monitoring

In a Local Authority setting monitoring should be in line with what is happening in school, where possible. Partner providers should follow their own monitoring procedures. A sample annual monitoring calendar can be found here.

Key points for managers to include in monitoring

  • Ensure all staff engage in self-evaluation and in identifying/monitoring improvement priorities.
  • Have regular observation visits to playrooms which have an agreed focus, record findings and discuss areas for improvement with staff.
  • Monitor the impact of change using e.g. Words Up Monitoring Tool
  • Sample/monitor profiles and have progress conversations with EYPs using the monitoring tool within Profiling and Reporting
