Eight settings in Lochaber including partner and local authority settings (Stramash, Caol, Inverlochy, Lundavra, Banavie, Spean Bridge, Little Learners and Bun Sgoil Gaidhlig Lochabair nurseries) took part in a joint transition project on the ‘Rainbow Fish’ to support partnership working across the Lochaber ASG in ELC.
This opportunity provided continuity in learning for children with split placements and enhanced communication between nursery and school during the transition process to P1. It also gave staff the opportunity to collaborate across settings, look outwards and share good practice. Mrs Boistelle, the P1 teacher at Inverlochy Primary, has kindly collated some of the learning ideas settings have shared during the experience into an e-letter. They plan to share this on the school blog which is a very effective way to communicate the joint learning and partnership working with parents and families.
Lochaber have now established an early years transition group and plan to develop further opportunities for joint learning, peer support and sharing good practice next session.
