The National Early Language and Communication (NELC) team are excited to announce the launch of their new practice sharing website, dedicated to highlighting effective practices in supporting speech, language, and communication (SLC) across Scotland.
Early SLC Practice Sharing Storyboards
The storyboards are arranged under the 5 primary drivers of the National Early SLC Theory of Change and highlight a range of collaborative, evidence informed and outcome focused work which support the SLC skills of children in Scotland from pre-birth to 5
We encourage you to explore the website and take advantage of the wealth of knowledge available. Here are a few ways you can engage with this resource:
Your involvement and engagement are crucial to the success of this initiative. We believe that by sharing our knowledge and collaborating across systems, we can help to create the conditions to support early SLC development across Scotland.
The CI early learning and improvement programme team has published a series of bitesize introductory videos for childminders on their quality improvement methodology. There are four videos which aim to introduce and support you in applying quality improvement methodology within your own service. These sessions are designed to be viewed consecutively, with short activities to aid you in making sustained improvements. You can watch these under the childminding section on the Early learning and childcare improvement programme page on The Hub here.
We would like to thank you for all your hard work over the last year and we hope you will all have an opportunity at some point over the summer to enjoy some time to relax.
Thank you to all practitioners and managers who will be continuing to work in providing a valuable service for Highland’s children and families over the summer.
Wishing you all a very happy summer!
A leaflet to support enhanced transitions has been designed for parents/carers of children with additional support needs with the purpose of sharing information prior to their child’s transition into ELC.
The A4 version is stored within the Supporting Documents section of the Transition page on the Psychological Service Blog and can also be shared with parents/carers electronically, thus reducing the need for printing. A QR code has been created with a shortened weblink making it easier to share. These can be printed off to show parents/carers who may use a smart phone to gain access. The QR code and weblink can be found HERE.
It is hoped that the roll out of this information will improve awareness, engagement, and planning for enhanced transitions amongst parents/carers and Early Years staff making the journey into ELC easier for all involved.
