Continuous Professional Learning

Continuous professional learning (CPL) is the learning we do for work which helps us develop our knowledge, skills and professional behaviour so we can deliver our best practice.
SSSC

During each five year period of registration with the SSSC, staff are required to complete 60 hours of Continuous Professional Learning. This equates to around 12 hours each year. Each member of staff is responsible for recording their own CPL and staff should be aware that the SSSC may ask to see evidence that CPL has been completed when it comes to renewing registration.

This page sets out to support Early Years Practitioners and other staff who work in Early Learning and Childcare in finding and accessing high quality professional learning materials.  The materials can be used individually, or in groups – either as a self-study or led by setting managers.  Learning materials can be accessed through this website and can be easily be found by using the ‘search’ function at the top of the page and typing in the topic you are interested in learning about.

CPL opportunities in Highland can be accessed via the Highland CPD website here.

You can also access a series of online resources to support engagement with Realising the Ambition, Play Pedagogy and Outdoor Learning on the Highland Schools Digital Hub by clicking here.

Please use the CPL Online Process document to decide where to start your professional learning.
