Induction Process
Staff starting a new role in ELC will be required to complete a staff induction with their manager and become familiar with the Early Learning and Childcare National Induction Resource. The National Induction Resource applies to all staff working in Early Learning and Childcare and should be accessed regardless of the length of time in post.
As well as accessing the National Induction Resource staff may also be provided with an induction relevant to their setting. If in doubt about any aspect of their job, staff should speak to their line manager as soon as possible.
Please arrange for staff to have CPD and Glow log ins.
For CPD log in please contact CPD@highland.gov.uk
For Glow log in:

The SSSC specify the qualifications staff must have or be working towards as they progress through their ELC career. Staff registered with the SSSC as a support worker will be expected to have or to be working towards a relevant Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) level 6, which is the same level as a Scottish Higher. Staff registered with the SSSC at practitioner level will be expected to have or to be working towards a relevant SCQF level 7 qualification and those registered as manager/lead practitioner will be expected to have or to be working towards a relevant SCQF level 9 qualification (a degree-level qualification). For more details please see The National Induction Resource.
Staff Development
Information on opportunities for mandatory, core and additional staff training can be found here ELC Highland CPL.
Staff should develop their skills in quality interactions using Words Up. The Language of Learning Toolkit can be used to support staff skills in learning conversations throughout the daily routine.
