Updates/information regarding inspections in ELC from the Scottish Government and Education Scotland

Here are a couple of updates that will be of interest to anyone working in ELC. One regarding Education Scotland approaches to inspections this session and the other regarding a consultation by the Scottish Government regarding ELC inspection.

Scottish Government consultation: Inspection of early learning and childcare and school age childcare services
The Scottish Government launched a consultation on 11 July 2022 seeking views on proposals to improve and streamline inspection of early learning and childcare (ELC) and school aged childcare services in Scotland. This can be accessed via the Scottish Government consultation hub.
The consultation seeks to gather views on the strengths of existing arrangements, where improvements can be made and on specific proposals to streamline and improve the inspection of ELC and school age childcare services through the introduction of a shared inspection framework.

Please do take the time to complete the consultation to help the Scottish Government to get the next steps right.  This consultation is running for an extended period of 16 weeks to take account of the summer holiday period. The Scottish Government would encourage everyone with an interest – including providers, staff, childminders, teachers, inspectors, parents, carers, local authority colleagues and other stakeholders – to respond by midnight on 28 October

Education Scotland are hosting webinars on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th august 15.45 – 16.30 to share more information about their inspection approaches for schools.
The webinars are open to all school leaders and education practitioners.
The webinars can be booked by using this link: Events | News and events | Education Scotland
