Solihull training opportunities for next year.

The Scottish Government is re-visiting (with NES) the nationwide access to the Solihull Approach.  This begins with ensuring those of us working with families have a knowledge of the approach and have a shared understanding and vocabulary to use when working with families individually.

So, this course, designed by the Solihull team at NES, but delivered by local trainings in Highland, is for anyone working with families with babies, young children and school-aged children and young people, from any agency – Children’s Centre workers, Health Visitors, Support Workers, School Nurses, EYPS, ASLTs, Teaching Staff, AHPs, those working in Paediatrics etc

The Solihull Approach:

The approach aims to equip staff to help parents understand their child’s behaviour in the context of their development and the parent-child relationship.  It focuses on developing nurturing and supportive relationships between children and their carer by promoting reflective, sensitive and effective parenting.

The Course:

Foundation level course – this is facilitated by 2 trainers over 2 days, a few weeks apart to allow for consolidation in between.

Its currently delivered online to allow the same access to all those working in Highland, but the training team are exploring opportunities to develop a shorter refresher course for those who have already completed Solihull and will also look to develop in-person sessions too, as needed.

Each course is 2 days and is online.  The 2 days are not consecutive.

Places are limited on each course and so dates are not always guaranteed.  Please indicate your first and second choices of dates on the forms link below and we will get back to you.

We plan refresher courses this year for those who have previously completed Solihull, so please mention that on the space on the booking form and we can look at this when planning these separate dates.
